Dr. Ali Tarokh, Director of Development and Communications
Dr. Ali Tarokh is a refugee and the Director of Development and Communications at the Syrian Community Network (SCN). He brings a strong track record of leadership across nonprofit organizations, refugee resettlement agencies, and educational institutions. His work is grounded in strategic storytelling, public engagement, and advancing community-centered initiatives. Dr. Tarokh holds a doctoral degree in Law and Policy, with a focus on U.S. immigration and refugee policy. He is actively engaged in advocacy at both the national and local levels. He has been involved with USA for UNHCR, supporting efforts to elevate refugee voices and strengthen humanitarian response. He is also a member of the Refugee Congress, contributing to policy recommendations informed by lived experience. Locally, he serves on the New American Advisory Council, advising the City of Chicago on strategies to better support immigrant and refugee communities.
