Mamayan Jabateh, Education Program Coordinator
Born in Liberia and migrating to Chicago in 2013, Mamayan has first hand experience as a refugee youth in a new country. As such, they have always been passionate about immigration rights and supporting young refugees as they navigate transitions, build community, and find their identities. Mamayan studied Anthropology and Race, Diaspora and Indigeneity at the University of Chicago, where they became involved in prison abolition organizing and advocacy for incarcerated young people. As the Education Program Coordinator, Mamayan manages the Online After School Program and works directly with the education manager to support online and high school programming.
