Samira Alhamwi, Adult Education Manager
Samira has a broad spectrum of experience in education with focuses in early childhood, special education, and adult learners. She obtained a bachelor’s in Psychological Counseling, and has worked with several associations that assist people with disabilities and has taught at special education schools in Syria. Samira and her family arrived in Chicago in 2016 through the U.S. refugee resettlement program. Since arriving, she has worked as a preschool teacher and began volunteering with Chicago Public Schools in 2016. As the Adult Education Manager at SCN, Samira leads classes for citizenship, beginner English, and leads the Conversation Club. She also directs a program focused on supporting women, which hosts a monthly workshop.
